Sanaa: Yemen’s Houthi group has claimed responsibility for an attack on an Aramco facility near Riyadh using ballistic missiles and drones.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the attack caused fires at the site.

Fire and smoke were seen rising near an Aramco facility south of Riyadh on Saturday. Saudi authorities and Aramco have not confirmed the cause of the fire.

Fighting intensifies

The Saudi-led coalition supporting Yemen’s government dismissed the Houthi claim as misleading.

The coalition said its forces carried out 97 operations against Houthi reinforcements in Taiz and Lahij.

Yemeni government forces said the operations killed or disabled at least 260 Houthi fighters and damaged or destroyed 44 military vehicles. The claims could not be independently verified.

The fighting has intensified since a fragile 2022 truce collapsed in July. Hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced as the conflict worsens.
