Riyadh: Three people were killed in attacks on airports in Riyadh and Abha, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to Saudi authorities.

The attacks targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Abha International Airport.

Two women, a Moroccan and an Algerian, were killed in the Abha attack. Another person was killed at King Khalid Airport.

Saudi Arabia strikes back

A total of 36 people were injured in the two attacks. Saudi authorities said 28 were injured at Abha and eight at King Khalid Airport.

Yemen’s Houthi movement claimed responsibility for attacks on the Saudi airports.

The Saudi-led coalition later said it had carried out strikes on 82 Houthi military targets in Yemen. The targets included missile storage sites and command centres.

The escalation comes as Saudi-backed Yemeni forces launch a major offensive against the Houthis near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

The conflict has also caused a major humanitarian crisis. More than 200,000 people have been displaced in Yemen since fighting intensified in September, according to the UN.
