The Maldives has welcomed the US decision to remove Syria from its state sponsors of terrorism list, expressing hope for greater peace and stability.

The Maldivian government has welcomed the United States’ decision to remove Syria from its list of state sponsors of terrorism, saying the move could support the country’s recovery and improve conditions for its people.
The Foreign Ministry conveyed its “warm congratulations” to the Syrian government and people, while expressing hope for peace, stability and prosperity.
The Maldives reaffirmed its support for Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
It also said it would continue supporting a peaceful and inclusive political solution led by the Syrian people.
