A 36-year-old American citizen, identified as Kobol Britain Tyler, was arrested after authorities discovered a loaded magazine inside his luggage upon his air entry into the Maldives on August 24, 2026.
Following his arrest under a court warrant, police presented him to court on August 25, 2026, for a remand hearing. The court ordered him to be held in custody for 10 days.
The Maldives Police Service stated that an investigation into the matter is currently ongoing.
