Maldives Foreign Minister Travels to Saudi Arabia for OIC Gaza Meeting

Foreign Minister Dr Abdulla Khaleel has travelled to Saudi Arabia to attend an OIC meeting on Gaza and discuss efforts to advance a UN-backed peace roadmap.

Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam has travelled to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to attend an Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers’ meeting focused on the Gaza conflict and the implementation of a UN Security Council-backed peace roadmap.

Iruthisham is scheduled to address the meeting and reaffirm the Maldives’ support for Palestinian rights and accountability for violations.

The minister said the Maldives will urge OIC members to support the peace roadmap and oppose actions that obstruct its implementation.

Maldives reaffirms Palestine support

The Maldives continues to advocate for an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The meeting will also discuss the appointment of the OIC secretary-general, while Iruthisham is expected to hold consultations with foreign ministers from Arab countries.
