President Muizzu joins national flag-hoisting ceremony marking Maldives’ 61st Independence Day

MALÉ, Maldives :  President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed today participated in the national flag-hoisting ceremony held at Republic Square to mark the 61st Independence Day of the Maldives.

The ceremony, which began at 6:00 a.m., was also attended by Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef, senior government officials, and other dignitaries.

The national flag was hoisted during the ceremony, followed by a special prayer to commemorate Independence Day. The event concluded

with the national anthem performed by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Band.

The Maldives celebrates its Independence Day annually on July 26, commemorating the country's independence from the United Kingdom on July 26, 1965.
