Big waves seen in the Malé area amid rough sea conditions --
MALÉ, Maldives: The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a White Alert across the country, warning of possible tidal flooding and worsening weather conditions.
The alert is in effect from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM today and covers all areas of the Maldives.
The Met Office has forecast heavy rainfall in some islands, with winds expected from the west and northwest in the northern atolls and from the south and southwest in other areas.
Wind speeds are expected to remain between 5 to 15 miles per hour, with gusts reaching around 35 miles per hour during squalls.
The sea is expected to be generally moderate, but conditions may become rough during squalls, with wave heights between 2 to 5 feet.

Several areas of Malé experienced tidal flooding yesterday, including the newly developed Boduthakurufaanu Magu and the Carnival area.
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) later carried out water drainage efforts in the affected areas.
Authorities have advised people travelling by sea to take extra care as unsettled weather conditions are expected to continue in the coming days.
