Tourism Minister Mohamed Ameen met Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives G. Balasubramanian at the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, where they held talks on expanding cooperation in tourism.

According to the ministry, discussions focused on strengthening tourism ties, improving air connectivity between the Maldives and India, and exploring opportunities to further support the growth of the Maldives' tourism industry.

Tourism is the Maldives' largest economic sector, and improved air links are seen as key to sustaining visitor growth and enhancing regional

connectivity.

India remains one of the Maldives' leading tourism source markets. Several airlines operate direct scheduled flights between Velana International Airport and Indian cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), providing strong connectivity for tourists and business travellers.
