Visit Maldives Managing Director Shiuree Resigns From Position

Ibrahim Shiuree has resigned from his position as Managing Director of Visit Maldives (formerly MMPRC) after serving in the post since June 2024.

MALÉ: Ibrahim Shiuree, the Managing Director of Visit Maldives, officially resigned from his post on Monday, August 24, 2026.

Shiuree was appointed to lead the state tourism promotion company—formerly known as the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC)—on June 13, 2024.

While the exact reason for his resignation has not been made public, Shiuree met with company staff earlier in the day to address them before stepping down.

Prior to his appointment at Visit Maldives, Shiuree built an extensive background in tourism, infrastructure development, and corporate leadership:

  • Professional Experience: Served as Vice President of the TT Association and worked as a steering committee member for the World Bank’s “Enhancing Employability and Resilience of Youth” project.

  • Infrastructure Projects: Led project management for regional airport construction, including projects in Fuvahmulah, Dharavandhoo, Ifuru, Kooddoo, Kudahuvadhoo, and Kulhudhuffushi.

  • National Recognition: Winner of both the National Award and the National Youth Award for his contributions.

  • Educational Background: Holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration specializing in Public Relations and Communication from Limkokwing University in Malaysia.

A new Managing Director for Visit Maldives has not yet been announced by the government.
