MALÉ, Maldives: Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has opened a new passenger waiting area at Velana International Airport's new terminal to improve comfort and services for travellers.
The new facility adds around 750 square metres of waiting space on the first floor of Terminal 1. It includes different types of seating to give passengers a more comfortable place to relax before their flights.
MACL has also opened a 136-square-metre children's play area. The space includes climbing structures, tunnels, play platforms and a ball pit, providing a safe and enjoyable place for children while families wait for their flights.
A new Bank of Maldives (BML) service counter has also been opened in the terminal. The counter offers foreign currency
exchange services and US dollar issuance services for Maldivian customers.
MACL said the new facilities are part of its efforts to improve the passenger experience and make the airport more modern and passenger-friendly.
The new terminal at Velana International Airport was officially opened on Independence Day last year and has the capacity to serve 7.5 million passengers a year.
