The United States has carried out a second consecutive day of airstrikes on Iranian territory, targeting locations including Sirik, Bandar-e Lengeh and Qeshm Island, according to live reporting by Al Jazeera, as tensions between Washington and Tehran escalate sharply across the Gulf region.
The strikes reportedly follow an earlier Iranian attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, which Washington described as a violation of maritime security agreements. US officials said the operations were aimed at missile and drone storage facilities, as well as radar and coastal defence infrastructure.
US President Donald Trump has issued strong warnings to Tehran, saying Washington is prepared to “militarily complete the job” if attacks on US interests continue, further intensifying fears of a broader regional war.
Iran, meanwhile, has responded with missile and drone strikes on US-linked military positions in Bahrain and Kuwait, triggering air raid sirens and emergency responses across Gulf states. Bahraini authorities activated civil defence systems for a second day as regional tensions spread beyond Iran’s borders.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said its forces targeted US military installations in retaliation for the
American strikes, warning that any further attacks would be met with what it described as a “crushing response.”
The escalation comes amid a fragile diplomatic environment, with earlier ceasefire and de-escalation efforts now under severe strain. Regional governments, including Oman, Kuwait and the UAE, have condemned attacks affecting Gulf security and called for restraint as fears grow of a wider conflict disrupting global oil shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz.
Israeli air operations in Lebanon have further complicated the regional picture, with renewed strikes reported despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to stabilise the northern front.
