The U.S. has carried out its 12th consecutive night of airstrikes on Iran, targeting military sites as tensions between the two countries continue to rise. Iran has warned of retaliation, raising concerns over a wider regional conflict.

The United States has carried out a 12th consecutive night of airstrikes on Iran, as fighting between the two countries continues to escalate.
According to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the latest operation targeted Iranian military sites, including missile and drone storage facilities, coastal surveillance systems, air defence positions and other military infrastructure. The strikes lasted about five hours.
President Donald Trump said the attacks are aimed at weakening Iran's military capabilities. He also warned that the U.S. would respond forcefully if Iran continued attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran has warned it will retaliate if the United States targets more of its infrastructure. Iranian officials have
also threatened to strike energy and economic facilities in the region if the conflict continues to grow.
The conflict has raised concerns around the world, as the Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's busiest oil shipping routes. Continued fighting has pushed up oil prices and increased fears of wider instability in the Middle East.
