Thailand has extended the visa-free stay period for Maldivian travellers from 15 days to 30 days. The change, approved by Thailand’s Cabinet, will allow Maldivians to stay longer without a visa for tourism, medical visits and other travel purposes once the new rule takes effect.

Thailand has approved an extension of the visa-free stay period for Maldivian travellers from 15 days to 30 days, providing more flexibility for Maldivians visiting the country.
The Maldivian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Thailand’s Cabinet approved the change on July 14 after reviewing the country’s visa policies. The updated rule will also apply to travellers from Maldives, India, Croatia, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Malta, allowing them to stay in Thailand for up to 30 days without a visa.
Thailand had previously introduced a 15-day visa exemption for Maldivians on May 19, 2024. The new policy will come into effect 15 days after its publication in the Royal Gazette. Until then, existing visa requirements will remain in place.

Adam thanked Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow for the decision, saying the extension would greatly benefit Maldivians who frequently travel to Thailand.
The Maldives government noted that Thailand remains a popular destination for Maldivians, particularly for medical treatment, tourism and other visits. Authorities said the move reflects ongoing efforts to make international travel more convenient for Maldivian citizens.
