Team Kamana won the Nexus Independence Day Cup 2024 after defeating Black Eagle Juniors in the final of the volleyball tournament held in K. Thulusdhoo.

K. Thulusdhoo: Team Kamana won the Nexus Independence Day Cup 2024 after defeating Black Eagle Juniors in the final of a volleyball tournament held to celebrate the Maldives' Independence Day.
The three-day tournament featured four teams: Kamana, Black Eagle Spikers, Flora, and Black Eagle Juniors. Black Eagle Juniors, who finished as runners-up, was made up of players under the age of 18.
Tauheeda Rasheed of Team Kamana was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP).
The Dream Team included Tauheeda Rasheed, Fathimath Anooza and Fathimath Nada from Kamana, along with Aishath Shiya Hazrat, Fathimath Luyoona Mohamed and Shafana Riffath from Black Eagle Juniors.
Team Flora finished the tournament in third place.

The tournament was organised by The Nexus Hub in Thulusdhoo.
Founder Nasih Moosa said the event aimed to encourage young people to take part in sports, revive the sporting culture on the island, and bring the community together.
He added that more sports and youth activities are planned in the future.
