MALÉ: The court has ordered a 35-year-old man to be held in police custody for 15 days following his arrest in connection with a car theft and a series of road collisions in Fuvahmulah.

The suspect, identified as Ahmed Aunullah of Andhaazu house, Miskiymagu, Fuvahmulah, was presented before the court today for a remand hearing after police took him into custody over the incident.

The arrest followed a series of events where the suspect allegedly assaulted a car owner, threatened to damage the vehicle, and took the car by force while under the influence of drugs. He then drove off and collided with a motorcycle carrying an 18-year-old woman and a nine-year-old girl, before hitting another parked vehicle and a tree without stopping.
