Sri Lanka has pledged US$1 million in humanitarian assistance to Nepal following deadly floods and landslides that have caused widespread destruction and displacement.

COLOMBO: Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka directed the government to provide the funds to support Nepal’s ongoing relief and humanitarian efforts, according to the Foreign Ministry.
The president expressed condolences to the families affected by the disaster and said Sri Lanka stood in solidarity with Nepal.
The assistance will support immediate relief efforts for communities affected by the floods and landslides.
Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath also spoke with Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal, conveying Sri Lanka’s condolences and support.
Sri Lanka said it would continue working with Nepal and explore further assistance for relief and recovery.
