A speedboat was completely destroyed in a fire at HDh. Hanimaadhoo harbour late last night, injuring two crew members. The captain sustained burns while attempting to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby vessels.

A speedboat was completely destroyed after a major fire broke out while it was docked at the HDh. Hanimaadhoo harbour late last night, leaving two crew members injured.
The Maldives Police Service said they received reports of the incident at around 12:20am. The fire caused extensive damage to the vessel, which was later declared beyond repair.
The boat’s captain and one crew member sustained injuries during the incident. The injured crew member was treated and later discharged from hospital, while the captain remains under medical care after
being transferred to Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital from the Hanimaadhoo Health Centre.
The vessel is owned by Hanimaadhoo resident.
Residents of Hanimaadhoo assisted police and the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) in controlling the blaze. Although the fire has been extinguished, the vessel was severely damaged and cannot be used again.
