Ministry of foreign affairs --

The Maldives has expressed support for Saudi Arabia after the Houthi militia made accusations against the Kingdom over the situation in Yemen.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Maldivian government said it supports the position of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which rejected allegations that Saudi Arabia was restricting humanitarian access and causing hardship for the Yemeni people.

The Houthis recently accused Saudi Arabia of imposing a blockade on Yemen. However, Saudi Arabia denied the claims, saying they were false and politically motivated.

Saudi Arabia Rejects Houthi Claims

Saudi Arabia stated that it does not impose a blockade on Yemen and accused the Houthi militia of obstructing humanitarian aid, diverting relief supplies, and increasing tensions in the region.

The Kingdom said the allegations were an attempt to shift blame and undermine ongoing

peace efforts in Yemen.

Maldives Highlights Peace and Humanitarian Efforts

The Maldives highlighted Saudi Arabia’s continued efforts, in cooperation with Yemen’s legitimate government and the United Nations, to support peace and reduce the suffering of the Yemeni people.

The statement also recognized Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian and development assistance to Yemen and reaffirmed the Maldives’ support for efforts aimed at promoting peace, security, and stability in the region.
