Al-Quds, Palestine: Iran and the Muslim World League have condemned recent Israeli actions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, including visits by Israeli officials and groups of Jewish visitors under police protection.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Monday condemned what it described as an insult to Al-Aqsa Mosque and the desecration of the Buraq Wall.

Tehran also called for international action over Israeli actions in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

Muslim World League condemns incursions

Muslim World League Secretary General Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa condemned the entry of an Israeli official and groups of settlers into the courtyards of Al-Aqsa.

He called for an immediate end to what the organization described as repeated violations of the historical and legal status quo at the holy site.

Hundreds of Israeli settlers entered the compound on Sunday, with some reportedly performing Jewish religious rituals, according to Al Jazeera.

Regional tensions over Al-Aqsa

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has also visited the compound with Jewish visitors under Israeli police protection.

Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia separately condemned the visit, describing it as a violation of the existing status quo, according to Anadolu.

Under the longstanding arrangement, the Jordanian Waqf administers the compound. Jewish visitors are allowed to visit but are not permitted to pray there.

The site remains a major source of tension between Palestinians and Israel, with changes to the existing arrangements repeatedly drawing condemnation from Muslim and Arab countries.
