NEW DELHI: According to a report by News18, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has achieved a major milestone by successfully launching its EOS-05 Earth observation satellite into orbit.
The satellite lifted off aboard a Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV-F17) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The launch vehicle has been dubbed the “Naughty Boy” of ISRO’s fleet due to its historically unpredictable mission track record.
As detailed in the News18 coverage, the successful mission represents a significant comeback for the GSLV rocket family. Weighing 2,367 kilograms, the EOS-05 is designed to serve as India’s first imaging satellite stationed in geosynchronous orbit, providing near-continuous monitoring capability over the region.
The News18 report highlights that the spacecraft will support real-time disaster management, agricultural planning, and regional surveillance once positioned in its final operational orbit. The mission underscores India’s maturing capability in operating indigenous cryogenic engine technology for heavy-payload space flights.
