ICCIA Secretary General Sheikh Yusuf Hassan Khalawi has met President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to discuss cooperation in trade, halal business and Islamic economic development.
Male’: Secretary General of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD), Sheikh Yusuf Hassan Khalawi, paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at the President’s Office on today morning.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in skills development, trade, hospitality and halal business, including expanding halal tourism and advancing the Islamic economy.
During the meeting, Sheikh Yusuf presented President Muizzu with a handwritten copy of the Holy Quran.
The Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development operates under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and represents businesses and entrepreneurs from 57 Islamic countries.
Established in 1977, the organization works to strengthen trade, economic and industrial ties among Islamic countries, while promoting investment, the halal economy and supporting small and medium sized businesses.
Maldives is represented in the organization by the Maldives National Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
