MALÉ: A total of 31 students participating in a cadet camp organized by Feydhoo School in Addu City are receiving medical care following a suspected food poisoning incident.
The affected students, who are in Grades 7 and 8, began experiencing symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and severe abdominal pain while attending the camp activities.
Speaking to local media, Abdulla Waheed, Senior Customer Relations Officer at Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH), confirmed that the students are currently undergoing treatment and observation across three medical facilities in the atoll:
Addu Equatorial Hospital (Hithadhoo): 7 students
Feydhoo Health Centre: 12 students
Maradhoo Health Centre: 12 students
Healthcare officials confirmed that none of the students are in critical condition, and most are being kept under temporary observation rather than formal admission.
Authorities expect to discharge students once their condition stabilizes and no further health complications arise.
The exact source of the food contamination remains unknown, and health officials are currently investigating the cause of the outbreak.
