MALE : Mohamed Alabbar, chairman of Eagle Hills and founder of Emaar Properties, will arrive in the Maldives tomorrow morning for an official visit.
Alabbar, who developed iconic global landmarks including Dubai’s 168-story Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall, is arriving to engage with key national stakeholders.
During his visit, Alabbar will meet prominent local business leaders and give interviews to media outlets. He will also host an official luncheon tomorrow for journalists and members of the Maldivian business community before concluding his trip on Friday.
The visit follows last month’s milestone signing between the Maldivian government and Eagle Hills for a $20 billion commercial terms agreement to develop a world-class waterfront and marina project in Ras Malé.
The development will cover 500 reclaimed hectares in Ras Malé, featuring high-end branded residences, a modern marina, commercial facilities, healthcare, and educational infrastructure. The government confirmed that the remaining 600 hectares of Ras Malé will be reserved exclusively for public housing, land plots, and essential local services.
Before beginning the Ras Malé project, Eagle Hills will also start construction on 5,000 housing units in Hulhumalé. In a video message, Alabbar expressed pride in undertaking the project and assured that it will deliver maximum economic benefits to the Maldivian public.
