Heavy rain has caused severe waterlogging and traffic disruption in Delhi, with the weather department warning of more intense rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds.

New Delhi-India: Delhi was placed under a red alert on Tuesday as heavy rain continued across the Indian capital, with the India Meteorological Department warning of intense rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.
The IMD said heavy rain was likely in Delhi during the next two to three hours, with moderate rain expected across several areas alongside winds of 30–40 kmph.
The warning covers all major districts of Delhi, including Central, East, New Delhi, North, South, West and Shahdara.

Delhi Airport said flight operations remained normal on Tuesday despite the adverse weather forecast.
However, 15 flights were diverted from the airport on Monday due to poor weather, including three international flights.
Neighbouring Gurugram also experienced severe waterlogging following heavy rain, affecting major roads and junctions.
The situation prompted authorities to advise offices to allow employees to work from home, while schools were asked to conduct classes online.
IMD scientist Dr Shashi Kant attributed the intense rainfall to the interaction between dry northerly winds and moisture-laden easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal.
