The Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure has opened nominations for the first Engineers’ Award, an initiative aimed at recognizing the achievements and contributions of Maldivian engineers to national development.
The award seeks to highlight technical excellence, encourage innovation in the engineering sector and inspire young people to pursue careers in engineering.
The award will be presented across 10 categories, with nominations open to individuals, government institutions, companies, consultants, contractors, as well as project and research teams.
A seven-member committee will review the submissions and select recipients based on the information provided.
The initiative is linked to Maldives Engineers’ Day, which was officially designated by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu last year to be observed annually on August 30. The date marks the inauguration anniversary of the Sinamalé Bridge, one of the country’s largest infrastructure projects.
The deadline for submitting nominations is 14:00 on August 20, and applications can be submitted through the Ministry’s online portal.
