Government Spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef have confirmed to local media that Nazim submitted his resignation earlier in the morning. While the exact reason for the departure was not disclosed, the spokesperson noted that the decision came after officials informed Nazim of upcoming changes to the administrative structure of the President’s Office.

He resigned from the cabinet alongside nine other ministers on April 14 following the local council elections, after which he was re-appointed to the President’s Office at minister rank.
