ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — The Maldives and Pakistan will hold a dedicated business forum during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s state visit to Pakistan, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry has announced.

The forum aims to strengthen connections between businesses from both countries and identify new opportunities for trade and investment. The visit is scheduled to continue until Thursday.

Agreements Planned Across Key Sectors

The two countries are expected to sign several agreements and memoranda of understanding covering areas including direct air connectivity, healthcare, higher education, research and defence cooperation.

Additional agreements are planned in finance, technology, parliamentary relations and media cooperation.

Leaders to Hold Official Talks

During the visit, President Muizzu is scheduled to meet Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari for discussions on bilateral relations, economic cooperation and regional issues.

The talks are also expected to cover tourism, agriculture, maritime security, climate change and cooperation through international organisations, including the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

The visit marks the first official trip to Pakistan by a Maldivian president since former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom visited in 2015. It also coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Pakistan.
