Male’ — A local man named Mohamed Saeed has begun a hunger strike at Henveiru Police Station, calling for a lasting solution to public disturbance complaints involving a man in his neighbourhood.

In a Facebook post, Saeed alleged that the man had repeatedly harassed passers-by, obstructed roads, thrown rubbish into homes, splashed oil and water on people from balconies, and entered buildings without permission.

Saeed said the disturbances had continued for nearly 10 years despite repeated police complaints and evidence submissions. He said the man, who is related to him, had been detained several times but resumed the alleged behaviour after each release.

Saeed said the man was arrested again around 6:30 p.m., but he would continue his hunger strike until a lasting solution was found.

He said he wanted to ensure the safety of his family, other residents and pedestrians, and called on the relevant institutions to take effective action.
