Jaipur: An Air India flight travelling from Frankfurt to Delhi was diverted to Jaipur on Wednesday following a security alert, prompting emergency landing procedures and extensive safety checks.
Flight AI2030, operated by a Boeing 787-9 aircraft, landed safely at Jaipur International Airport on October 14. The aircraft was moved to an isolation bay while security personnel carried out checks.
The flight was carrying 306 people, including passengers and crew, according to reports. Everyone was reported safe, and passengers underwent security screening as authorities investigated the alert.
Initial reports described the incident as a possible bomb threat. However, subsequent reports said the diversion followed a suspected hijack alert after the aircraft transmitted a signal associated with unlawful interference.
Preliminary indications suggested the alert may have been triggered by mistake, but authorities launched an investigation to establish what happened. No actual hijacking was confirmed.
Air India later said the relevant security agencies had completed their checks and cleared the aircraft and crew. Passengers disembarked for screening before reboarding to continue their journey to Delhi.
The incident caused a delay of several hours, but the flight resumed its journey after security procedures were completed.
