Sanaa, Yamen: Yemen’s Houthi group has accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out 26 attacks against areas under its control over the past 24 hours, amid a renewed escalation in Yemen’s conflict.

The group said the strikes were part of intensified Saudi military operations against Houthi held territory. It also claimed that Saudi strikes on Houthi positions had reached around 300 over the past week.

Fighting intensifies

The claims come as clashes between the Houthis and forces backed by Saudi Arabia have intensified across Yemen.

Yemen’s Saudi-backed government said its forces had killed 30 Houthi fighters and wounded more than 60 others during fighting in Taiz province.

The escalation follows a series of Houthi attacks targeting Saudi territory. Saudi authorities have reported drone attacks affecting areas including Taif, Abha and Khamis Mushait, with civilians reported injured in earlier attacks.

Displacement rises

The renewed fighting has also triggered significant displacement. The UN migration agency said at least 112,000 people had been displaced inside Yemen over the previous two weeks, while nearly 3,000 people had crossed the Gulf of Aden to Djibouti.

The escalation has raised wider concerns over regional security and shipping, particularly around the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, as Houthi forces have expanded their presence along Yemen’s Red Sea coast.
