Male’: Ahmed Shaheer has been appointed chairman of the Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), the Privatization Board announced.
The board said Shaheer has been appointed to the MTDC board of directors and will serve as its chairman.
Shaheer held the chairmanship of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) from May 2025 until last week.
He previously served as chairman of Fenaka Corporation under the current administration. He was removed from the position in August 2024.
Shaheer spent 29 years working at State Trading Organisation (STO), where he held several positions during his career.
Before being appointed managing director, he served as STO’s head of procurement.
The latest appointment comes after Abdullah Faiz, who most recently served as MTDC chairman, was appointed chairman of the Maldives Fund Management Corporation (Mifco) last week.
Faiz had been serving at MTDC since February 2017.
