MALÉ: High Court Judge Ibrahim Maahir has officially retired from his position on the appellate bench today.
The High Court expressed gratitude to Maahir in a statement posted on social media, thanking him for his valuable legal services and long dedication to the Maldivian judicial system. Maahir was appointed to the High Court bench in September last year after serving across lower courts for many years.
Following 11 months of service at the High Court, Maahir submitted a formal request for retirement to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) last month, which the oversight body subsequently approved.
Maahir began his judicial career in the Civil Court before transferring five years later to the Family Court in 2010. He remained at the Family Court for over a decade, serving as its Chief Judge from 2022 until his appointment to the High Court bench.
