Beirut, Lebanon: Israeli airstrikes hit several areas in southern Lebanon on today, killing at least four people and injuring 20 others amid continued tensions between Israel and Hezbollah.

The strikes targeted areas including Arab Salim, Nabatieh, Nabatieh al Fawqa and Kfar Reman, according to Lebanon’s official National News Agency.

Two women were killed and six people, including two children, were injured in an attack on a building in Arab Salim. Israeli forces had issued an evacuation warning for the area before the strike.

Two other people were killed in a separate strike in Nabatieh al Fawqa, Lebanon’s Health Ministry said.

An Israeli strike in Nabatieh also destroyed a historical building and damaged several nearby structures. In Kfar Reman, another strike destroyed the home of the town’s former mayor.

Israel says strikes were response to drone attack

The Israeli military said the attacks were carried out in response to two Hezbollah drones launched toward Israeli troops operating in an area controlled by Israeli forces in southern Lebanon.

The latest strikes come despite a US brokered ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah. However, clashes and Israeli strikes have continued in southern Lebanon since the agreement.
