Male’: Inguraidhoo MP and People’s National Congress (PNC) parliamentary group leader Ibrahim Falaah has said the PNC currently has 77,000 members, making it the largest political party in the Maldives.

Speaking at a PNC rally last night, Falaah said the PNC has the highest membership among the political parties established under the country’s multi party democratic system.

“Today, this party has 77,000 members. I congratulate our party president, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, for this,” Falaah said.

He said President Muizzu, who also leads the PNC, has previously carried out major membership drives in Malé and the atolls to increase the party’s membership.

According to the Election Commission’s records, the PNC currently has the highest number of registered members. The opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has 55,399 members, while the Jumhooree Party has 10,401.

The Election Commission currently has seven registered political parties.
