Police have taken a 42 year old foreign national into custody following allegations of sexually abusing a 16 year old girl in an island within the South Police region.

Male’: Authorities arrested a 42 year old foreign male on yesterday following a formal report alleging the sexual abuse of a 16 year old minor on an island under the South Police division.
Police confirmed that the initial report regarding the incident was submitted to the service on yesterday Investigators executed the arrest on the same day as part of immediate measures taken upon receiving the complaint.

The Maldives Police Service stated that a comprehensive investigation into the matter is actively underway.
