Police have arrested nine Bangladeshi men during a joint counter-narcotics operation targeting a guesthouse in Malé following suspicions of illegal drug trafficking.

MALÉ: Maldives Police Service has arrested nine Bangladeshi nationals following a joint counter-narcotics operation that targeted a guesthouse in the capital.
The operation was carried out on September 1 by the Drug Enforcement Department in collaboration with Counter Narcotics Intelligence. Officers raided and searched a guesthouse in Malé following intelligence regarding the illegal possession and commercial distribution of illicit drugs.
During the search, police located and confiscated items suspected to be illegal drugs inside the premises. Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact quantity or weight of the seized substances.
Following the completion of initial legal procedures, law enforcement handed over all nine suspects directly to Maldives Immigration. Police confirmed that active investigations into the case remain ongoing.
