Business Veteran Abdulla Faiz --

MALÉ: Business veteran Abdulla Faiz has been officially appointed as the Chairperson and a member of the Board of Directors of the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited (MIFCO).

The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) confirmed the appointment, highlighting that Faiz was selected to enhance governance, strengthen operational efficiency, and drive corporate reforms within the state fisheries enterprise.

Faiz brings over 30 years of management experience across the commercial, shipping, and tourism sectors. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Australian Institute of Business.

Prior to his appointment at MIFCO, Faiz served in several senior public and private sector leadership roles, including Chairman of the Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) following his appointment in February 2019, as well as Chairman of the Board at the State Trading Organization (STO). His extensive private sector experience includes serving as Managing Director of ADK Trade and Shipping, Director to the Chairman at Villa Shipping and Trading, and Director of Marketing and Promotions at Villa Hotels.

Additional background facts and professional credentials include:

• Industry Association Co-Founder: Played a foundational role in establishing the Maldives National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI), Maldives Traders Association (MTA), Maldives Association of Construction Industry (MACI), and the Restaurant Association of Maldives (RAM).

• Regional Roles: Served as Secretary-General of MNCCI, Vice President of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and has held a Life Membership with the SAARC Chamber since 2001.

• Sector Diversity: Managed executive portfolios spanning hospitality, commercial logistics, catering services, and private investment management.
