Male’: President Mohamed Muizzu has extended Independence Day greetings to Malaysian King Sultan Ibrahim, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and the people of Malaysia.
In a message shared today, President Muizzu said the Maldives and Malaysia share common values and mutual respect.
He said the two countries have maintained close relations for decades, with their partnership developing through high level cooperation and strong people to people exchanges.
President Muizzu reaffirmed the Maldives’ commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations with Malaysia in the years ahead.
Malaysia celebrates its Independence Day, known as Hari Merdeka, on August 31 each year. The national day marks the country’s independence from British rule in 1957.
