Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia: Maldives Environment and Energy Minister Ali Shareef met India’s Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav on the sidelines of the UNCCD COP-17 summit in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The meeting focused on strengthening Maldives-India cooperation in climate and environmental protection.
Discussions covered nature-based solutions, climate change adaptation, satellite data, weather technology and marine conservation.
The two sides also discussed expanding cooperation in remote sensing and earth observation, as well as managing coastal and marine ecosystems and strengthening environmental monitoring.
Director of Knowledge Management, Research and Assessment Ahmed Shaan also attended the meeting.
The ministers further explored opportunities for closer institutional cooperation and technical capacity-building in environmental fields.
