Former AG Azima Shakoor appointed Principal Secretary to President

Former Attorney General Azima Shakoor has taken up a senior position at the President’s Office after serving in several key government posts.

MALÉ: Former Attorney General Azima Shakoor has been appointed Principal Secretary to the President’s Office, Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef has confirmed.

Shareef said Azima has already started work in the new position.

Azima is a veteran government official who served as the country’s first female Attorney General between 2007 and 2013, serving under three administrations.

She later held several senior government positions, including Minister for Legal Affairs and Minister of Gender, Family and Human Rights.

Azima also contested the 2012 Malé City mayoral election on a PNC ticket but was unsuccessful.
