Four residents have been provided temporary shelter and food after a fire left their seventh-floor apartment in Malé uninhabitable, with one police officer sustaining minor injuries.

MALE’ — Four residents have been provided temporary shelter and food after a fire left their apartment in Malé uninhabitable on Saturday night.
The fire broke out in a three-bedroom apartment on the seventh floor of H. Fahivahi.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said three women and one man living in the apartment have been relocated to temporary accommodation and provided with sufficient food for five days.
Police said an officer who was on duty during the incident sustained a cut to his arm and is receiving treatment at ADK Hospital. His injuries are not considered serious.
No other injuries were reported.
Police said smoke spread to several floors of the building during the fire, but no lasting damage was caused. NDMA also confirmed that there is no remaining smoke residue on the affected floors.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
