Maldives Customs Service has seized 450 grammes of cannabis from an Indian passenger who arrived at Velana International Airport (VIA) from India.
Customs said the drugs were discovered on August 5 during a luggage inspection after officers suspected the passenger was carrying narcotics.
The case has been handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation and legal action.
The seizure comes amid recent Customs operations targeting narcotics and other prohibited items. On August 3, Customs seized 800 vape cartridges, while a man was arrested last month over an alleged attempt to smuggle drugs worth MVR 2.9 million into the Maldives.
