Maldives Airports Company Limited has launched the Aviation Institute of Maldives, with 29 students graduating from its first Airport Security Management course.

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has officially launched the Aviation Institute of Maldives (AIM) and awarded certificates to its first graduating class.
The launch and graduation ceremony was held at Hulhule Island Hotel, with Maldives National University Chancellor Dr Mahamood Shougee attending as the chief guest and formally inaugurating the institute.
MACL Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed presented graduation certificates to the 29 students who completed the Airport Security Management course.
Dr Shougee also presented special awards to the top-performing students.
Speaking at the ceremony, Shareef said AIM was established to help develop the technical workforce required by the aviation sector and reflected MACL’s long-term commitment to building skilled professionals for the airport industry.
Dr Shougee praised MACL’s efforts to develop a skilled workforce in the Maldives, describing the institute as an important step forward for technical training in the country.
The Airport Security Management course is a Certificate Level 3 programme developed in line with Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA) standards and the national qualifications framework.
The course was conducted from June 1 to September 9, 2025, and was designed to prepare new recruits joining MACL’s Estate Security Service.
MACL said the programme forms part of its wider efforts to strengthen the safety and security of passengers travelling through Velana International Airport.
