Hamas is urging Washington to take a stronger role in negotiations, saying greater US pressure on Israel is needed to advance the Gaza plan and its next stage.

A senior Hamas official has called on the United States to put pressure on Israel to accept the next phase of the Gaza plan, AFP reported on Sunday.
The Hamas official said Washington should use its influence to push Israel toward implementing the next stage of the agreement. The call comes as efforts continue to move forward with the Gaza plan and address key issues surrounding its implementation.
Hamas has repeatedly called for the terms of the agreement to be carried out, while negotiations have focused on the steps needed to move from the current phase to the next.
