The Maldives will host the 15th Congress of the SAARC Association of Anaesthesiologists from August 15 to 16 in AA. Ukulhas, marking the first time the regional event has been held in the country.

The biennial congress is being organized by the SAARC Association of Anaesthesiologists with support from the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA).

Speaking on PSM’s Raajje Miadhu programme, Health Director General Dr. Ahmed Ashraf said hosting the event will give Maldivian and regional health professionals an opportunity to share scientific knowledge, discuss new research and learn about advances in anaesthesia.

He said the congress will also help strengthen cooperation between health professionals across the region and provide the Maldives with valuable experience in organizing major international medical events.

According to Dr. Ashraf, hosting the congress could also help promote the Maldives internationally while supporting the country’s education and economy.

He added that the event will create opportunities for Maldivian doctors, nurses and other professionals to engage with experts from the region and gain new knowledge and experience.
