Eight people were killed and 10 injured after a private bus carrying 18 passengers plunged onto a lower road in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh. Rescue teams have completed the initial operation, while authorities investigate the cause of the crash.

India: At least eight people were killed and 10 others injured after a private bus veered off a mountain road and crashed onto a lower road in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district on Saturday morning.
The bus was travelling from Bairagarh towards Chamba when the accident occurred near Chalunj Mor in the Devikothi area. The vehicle, operated by Sharma Bus Service, had reportedly left Bairagarh at around 6:30 a.m. and was carrying 18 people.
According to officials, the bus overturned before falling onto the road below, trapping several passengers inside the wreckage.
Residents alerted authorities after hearing calls for help, following which police, emergency services, Home Guards and disaster response teams began rescue operations. The injured passengers were taken to nearby hospitals, with six reportedly suffering serious injuries and being referred to a government medical college hospital in Chamba.
The identities of those killed have not yet been officially released. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
The accident took place along the Bairagarh-Tissa road, a mountainous route known for its narrow stretches and steep terrain.
