President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Ahmed Mamdhooh as the new Vice President of the Employment Tribunal. He was sworn into office during a ceremony held at the President's Office on Monday.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Ahmed Mamdhooh as the new Vice President of the Employment Tribunal.
Mamdhooh took the oath of office during a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Monday. The oath was administered by Supreme Court Justice Aishath Shujune Mohamed.
He succeeds Fathimath Mahira Mohamed, who had been serving as the tribunal’s vice president since April 2024. The reason for the vacancy has not been disclosed.
Mamdhooh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Kelaniya in Sri Lanka. Throughout his career, he has held several senior government positions, including Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Economic Development and Deputy Managing Director and Acting Managing Director of the Maldives Road Development Corporation (RDC). He was appointed Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs in 2018 during former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s administration.
Before his latest appointment, Mamdhooh worked as a consultant on a number of projects carried out by the Malé City Council.
The Employment Tribunal is an independent body established under the Employment Act to hear and resolve employment-related disputes.
