GLASGOW, Scotland: Competition intensified on the sixth day of the 2026 Commonwealth Games as athletes from across the Commonwealth battled for medals in athletics, boxing, swimming and other events, with the Games entering their final stages.
Athletics delivered some of the day’s standout performances, with Australia’s Lachlan Kennedy winning silver in the men’s 100 metres final and compatriot Torrie Lewis claiming bronze in the women’s 100 metres.
In boxing, several competitors secured places in the semi-finals, guaranteeing themselves at least bronze medals under the competition format. Among them were boxers from India, one of South Asia’s largest Commonwealth contingents, who remained in contention for additional medals in the later rounds.
Across other events, including swimming, cycling, gymnastics, judo, weightlifting, basketball and netball, athletes continued to compete for podium finishes as nations sought to improve their positions on the medal table.
The Commonwealth Games, being held in Glasgow from 23 July to 2 August, have brought together athletes from 74 Commonwealth nations and territories, including the Maldives, with several medal events still to be decided before the Games conclude.
