TEHRAN, Iran: Iran's army has warned that the Middle East conflict could spread further if the United States resumes airstrikes on the country.

Army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia said Iran would respond if the US continues military action, especially alongside Israel. He warned that any new airstrikes could lead to a wider regional conflict.

Akraminia said the conflict has already spread to the Bab al-Mandab Strait at the entrance to the Red Sea, referring to recent clashes involving Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels and Saudi Arabia.

He added that Iran is prepared for any possible scenario.

The warning comes ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's planned visit to Washington, where he is expected to meet US President Donald Trump to discuss the conflict and regional security.
