Seven women and six children have been released after being among more than 50 people kidnapped during a gang attack in Kenscoff, near Haiti’s capital Port au Prince.

Port au Prince, Haiti: Thirteen hostages, including seven women and six children, have been released in Haiti following a deadly gang attack in Kenscoff.
More than 50 people were kidnapped during the attack in the farming area near Port au Prince. At least 47 people were also killed.
The children who were released include three children under two years old, a seven year old and two teenage girls. UNICEF and community leaders helped secure their release.
It is still unclear if other women and children remain in the hands of the gang. There is also no information yet on whether those released need medical treatment.
Gang leader Izo 2 had reportedly threatened to kill the hostages if police killed gang members during efforts to take back control of Kenscoff.
Haiti has been facing serious gang violence, with civilians often caught in the middle of the fighting.
